Local Area

Born and bred in Pendle, Kimberley Developments is proud to be associated with this magnificent area. With roots in the textiles industry and historic links to ill-fated witches, Pendle is a unique place to live, boasting a fascinating past and an exciting future.

Looking to the future

The area is currently blossoming with investments. Formerly the Brierfield Mill, Northlight Mill is the flagship project of PEARL: Pendle Enterprise And Regeneration Ltd. This ambitious, £32-million development will transform the iconic former cotton mill into a bold new multi-venue, multi-use hub for learning, living, leisure and culture for the North West.
Over the past two decades, local investment within the town of Barrowford has resulted in it becoming a destination in itself, attracting out-of-towners drawn here by a tempting array of retail, wining and dining options, along with the area’s famous natural beauty.

Thriving local businesses add colour, character and flavour, with highlights including Will’s Bar, The Lounge, Higherford Mill and an array of independent boutiques. Retail lures continue in nearby Gisburn, a little village with a big history, and the market town of Colne, whose cobbled streets are backdropped by a tapestry of green fields.
Nature-lovers are richly rewarded, thanks to outdoor charms such as Pendle Hill, the Pendle Sculpture Trail and pretty Barley village – all within easy reach. The area also has much to be proud of when it comes to education: local options include Park High School, Blacko School, Saint Thomas’ School and Barrowford School, plus Nelson & Colne College.

As neighbouring regions such as Manchester benefit from significant urban regeneration, investment in Pendle and its surrounding areas continues to grow, consolidated by the region’s ideal geographical position and enviable transport links.
